Jeremy J. Smith: Composer/Arranger

Jeremy
Smith is a talented young composer and arranger. He started composing
in sixth grade on the piano, and now has grown to writing for full
orchestras. Most of his writing, however, is for percussion ensembles, and
solo marimba. Jeremy has written four pieces for the Mt. Lebanon High
School Percussion Ensemble, one for the Mt. Lebanon High School Marching Blue
Devil Band, and others for specific individuals.
Mr. Jeremy J. Smith is now on staff with the Mt. Lebanon High School Marching Blue Devil Band as one of their Percussion Front arrangers. This talented group of 10-15 players is on the front sideline every halftime of football games playing mallet percussion and auxiliary percussion to back up the marching band. Mr. Smith takes the published band score and creates individual parts for each Percussion Front member. In this regard, Mr. Smith is writing a full percussion ensemble arrangement of a marching band tune. Each part is tailored to its player, and the sounds produced by the Percussion Front are surely a welcomed addition to the band's sound.
